BroniesWiki:How to contribute
Bronies.wiki is an open online encyclopedia about the brony fandom—that is, fan works, events, organizations and individuals relating to the adult My Little Pony fandom that originally formed in late-2010 and early-2011. While we don't (and won't!) exclude aspects of the My Little Pony fandom that existed before this time, it is not the primary focus of this wiki.
We encourage each and everypony to contribute their knowledge and experience to the wiki so that we can preserve the fandom's history for posterity.
Quick tips on contributingEdit
- Use American English (mostly). My Little Pony is an American-produced program. Possible exceptions include proper nouns and articles related to the fandom outside of the US.
- Avoid editorializing. Wikis are encyclopedic in nature, and should avoid pushing a single interpretation or viewpoint.
- Avoid purple prose. Short sentences and simple language often goes a lot further than long, eloquent paragraphs.
- Don't worry about getting spelling, grammar or formatting exactly right. Lots of people know how to copy edit text, but you might be the only person who knows what needs to be written!
- Reference as much as possible. Citing your sources adds legitimacy to what you've written and reduces the chances of it being removed.
- If you need to, use the sandbox. In the sandbox you can experiment with using wikitext and practice formatting articles, without disrupting the rest of the wiki.

What Bronies.wiki isn't aboutEdit
Canonical works and official tie-in mediaEdit
Information about the canonical Friendship is Magic characters, show, comics, cast and crew generally belongs on the My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic wiki. Other officially produced and tie-in media goes on Equestripedia.
There is some wiggle room. For example, Derpy Hooves is a canonical character largely based on the fandom's interpretation of her. Similarly, some fandom creators have become staff on the canon works (like Gabriel Brown) and some staff have had a direct involvement in fandom works (like Sibsy).
Toys and merchandiseEdit
Information relating to My Little Pony toys and merchandise is better suited to My Little Wiki.
The furry fandomEdit
Whether bronies are a subset or distinct entity from the furry fandom is a an often controversial discussion topic. While it is hard to contest there is some significant overlap between the two fandoms, most topics relating to furries belong on WikiFur.
Similar wikisEdit
There are some wikis that have some crossover with the topics Bronies.wiki aims to cover.
The MLP Fan Labor wiki covers many of the same topics that we do, but is principally concerned with fan works (which is just one of our topic areas).
The My Little Bronies wiki contains information about My Little Pony-inspired original characters. While that wiki allows contributors to create vanity articles, we only intend to cover notable original characters—such as mascots, characters prominent in fan media (such as Littlepip), and the original characters of people (within the context of the people behind them).
