Shows a small sprite of a country flag, using icons from the famfamfam flag icon set.

Usage[edit source]

The template takes a single parameter, the ISO 3166-1 alpha-2 code of the desired country.

  • US Flag of the United States of America
  • FR Flag of France

Note that this may not always be the obvious code for the country. For example:

  • GB Flag of the United Kingdom (Great Britain)
  • DE Flag of Germany (Deutschland)
  • CH Flag of Switzerland (Confoederatio Helvetica)

A few other flags are included for other entities, which may be used (but in most situations probably shouldn't be):

  • CAT Catalonia
  • EU Europe
  • GB-ENGLAND England
  • GB-SCOTLAND Scotland
  • GB-WALES Wales

Known problems[edit source]

The famfamfam icon set is rather old (from 2005, in fact), and now contains some errors and omissions, including:

  • CD Democratic Republic of the Congo. Modified flag in 2006.
  • EC Ecuador. Icon is missing the flag's central seal (making it visually identical to the flag of Colombia).
  • EH Western Sahara. Icon displays the flag's reverse side.
  • IQ Iraq. Modified flag in 2008.
  • LS Lesotho. Introduced new flag in 2016.
  • LY Libya. Introduced new flag in 2011.
  • MM Myanmar. Introduced new flag in 2010.
  • MR Mauritania. Modified flag in 2017.
  • RS Serbia. Modified flag in 2010.
  • SS — South Sudan. Missing; became sovereign in 2011.
  • XK — Kosovo. Missing; became sovereign in 2008.
